Configuring a Trendnet TEW-432BRP Wireless Router as an Wireless Access Point
|
| * This Example uses a DLINK router as the main network router, but it should apply to almost any model * |
| Step One | Check your Firmware version. If it is older then Version: 1.2.0, Wed, 28 Jun 2006 then Click here to download the updates, or go to Trendnet's Web Site and check for even newer updates there. Note: Failure to ignore this step
will only lead to frustration, and loss of hair!
Click here for installation instructions to upgrade your Firmware, once updates are complete, proceed to step two. |
| Step Two | Connect it only to one wired machine (and nothing else) and make sure it's set to factory defaults. |
| Step Three | Go in and change the router's IP (not the WAN IP) to an address that is within your current Dlink's subnet but not one of the dynamically assigned addresses (and obviously not the same as the Dlink itself). Save those changes (Apply).
|
| Step Four | Set it to obtain the WAN IP dynamically (Automatically). Save that (Apply). |
| Step Five | Set up your wireless settings (including security)and Apply those changes. |
| Step Six | The last thing is to disable the DHCP server and Apply. |
| Step Seven | Now disconnect your wired machine, and connect the Trendnet to your Dlink using a LAN port (not the WAN). |
| You should be able to access the admin control panel using the IP you specified it to be. Your wireless connections should be getting their IP from your Dlink router and your DLink will be the gateway. It will be like the Trendnet is invisible on the network. If you have performed all the above steps correctly, you will have access to the Internet, and your LAN as well. |
| Special Thanks to Jeff Godin for figuring this all out! |
